Teams continue to jockey for position in Tursa Premier League

Seven rounds into the Tursa Premier League for 2006 and teams continue to jump about the ladder with upsets and inconsistent performances the only obvious trend at this stage.

Lennox Head are the big surprise with an ageing backline and a mixture of youth and experience elsewhere. The Sharks have caught many a side out and going into round 8 are looking at making it five wins on the trot when they meet Casino at Oakes Oval at 5.00pm

Byron Bay continue to lead the pack but following a tough trip to Casino last week they will face a much harder test against Workers FC who typify the inconsistency which is plagueing sides this year.

In the second game of the double header at Oakes Oval, Goonellabah will take on Italo Stars in a match that may have a huge impact on either sides title hopes.  Goonellabah having lost only one game this season are the dark horses of the competition and everyone is waiting to see them recapture the form of last year which took them to the Point Score Championship and the Grand Final.

Stars have had some unexpected results to date and with their lineup should be secure in the top five rather being third from bottom at this stage of the season.  This game will kick off at 7.00pm

Thistles started the campaign brightly but over the last month have struggled to pick up anything from their recent outings. The trip to Maclean is a dangerous one at the best of times but when you are in poor form the prospect of meeting the Bobcats is daunting.  Maclean should take the points here.

Rovers returned to winning ways last weekend to maintain touch with the leaders. The visit of Ballina to Nielson Park should give them the prospect of closing the 6 point gap to Byron, but the Seahorses have shown that they will make teams work for the full 90 minutes.
