Top of table clash in Men’s First Division

After weeks of ups and downs the top two sides in FFNC First Division will meet as South Lismore take on Burringbar this saturday at Caniaba Street Reserve from 5.00pm.

The last month has seen Souths, and Bangalow hold down the top spot but both succumbed to Murwillumbah Saints in respective weeks and as a result let Burringbar creep up unnoticed.

The outcome on saturday should be a close one with experts tipping Souths to take the honours at home, with Burringbar a little jaded from the bus trip down.

In other games Tweed Heads should be able to continue their rise up the ladder as they play bottom side Murwillumbah Hammers, and with top five teams Alstonville and Bangalow up against each other Tweed could just sneak into the top five on the back of a good result.

Murwillumbah Saints have a local derby against an inconsistent Kingscliff outfit.  Saints have taken on the mantle of giant killers after the defeats over Souths and Bangalow so they won’t want to let their guard down this week and maintain their spot in the top four.

Pottsville should be the big winners from this round if other results go their way as they take on Uki.  A solid win may see them jump back into the top five.

In the remaining fixture Woodburn will take on Tumbulgum in a game which should see the victor move away from the relegation zone.
