Rd1 of Tursa Pre-Season produces surprises
Round 1 of the Tursa Pre-Season produced some big scores and one or two surprises over the weekend.
In the Tursa ANZAC Cup Byron Bay got their campaign off to a good start with a solid 3-0 win over Workers FC while defending champs Goonellabah struggled against Lennox Head B grabbing a second half own goal to gain a 1-0 win.
Stars struggled to overcome Byron Bay B eventually bagging a 2-0 win through a Jeremy Pollard brace and Lennox Head A were made to work hard against newly promoted Bangalow before taking the match 3-2.
InĀ Open A Division Bangalow and Pottsville turned on a thrilling match with the northern lads winning 3-2. Woodburn and Thistles banged in six goals apiece in a scorching start, while in Open B Goonellabah slotted in three to down an understrength Ballina.
The women were not to be outdone either with Lennox Head smashing 11 past an outclassed Tintenbar in Tursa Callan McMillan A Division and Souths slotted six past Rovers in B Division.
