Souths surge into 2nd place in NDC Championship

South Lismore have surged up the Newton Denny Chapelle Championship ladder on the back of some recent good form moving into second place behind comfortable leaders Alstonville.

Last weeks 5 - 1 demolition of Uki helped the Celtics move ahead of close rivals Casino and Woodburn on goal difference and get them back in the frame for a top five finish.

Granted all three of the top four teams have a game in hand on Souths but this season is already proving that 3 points in the bag is a big advantage. Woodburn and UkiĀ are testament to that with the Wolves struggling to draw with third from bottom Seawolves and Uki going down to a previously winless Banora Point.

Alstonville lead the Championship with 21 points eight clear of souths with a game in hand and at this stage are the beneficiaries of the inconsistent form of the remaining teams.

Round 9 fixtures throw up some mouthwatering fixtures with League leaders Alstonville up against Casino at Colley Park, Uki taking on Seawolves in a local tweed derby, Burringbar host South Lismore and Banora Point host Woodburn Wolves in what could be a tense affair.
