GM moves onto new career
Friday, October 31st, 2008Football Far North Coast General Manager Matt Kelso has announced his resignation after an 8 year term.
The announcement came as quite a surprise to most of the North Coast football fraternity and to the board and staff of FFNC.
Kelso has been provided an opportunity to take his skills and experience into a community development role with the Australian Sports Commission, filling a vacancy in their Ballina offices.
The appointment of Kelso in 2001 was seen as a radical departure from the traditional community volunteer committee, but has proven to be fundamental to the rapid growth of football in the north coast region. His partnership with Chairman Michael Gaertner has produced a higher profile for the game and greater support from the business comunity allowing the organisation to facilitate change and professionalise the structure of the delivery mechanisms, such as coaching, player development and competitions.
FFNC President Michael Gaertner said ” Matt has used his passion for the game to deliver our business plan to great effect and in partnership with the committee and staff has built an organisation which is the envy of football administrations across Northern NSW. We are disappionted that he is leaving but congratulate him on his service and wish him the best for his future role.”
Kelso will end his term with FFNC on November 28th with the selection process to recruit a replacement commencing next week.
